Dermamelan Peel

The gold standard in treating pigmentation like Melasma

Dermamelan Peel

The Dermamelan peel is the result of years of research by a Spanish research laboratory into skin pigmentation disorders. Hence it is now established as the gold standard when treating pigmentary disorders such as melasma.

This treatment is a skin peel that utilises key organic acids in removing and suppressing melanin which are the cells that cause pigmentation. It is a combination of in-clinic treatment and a complete home-care protocol. The home-care kit consists of specialised creams that you will need to apply in the morning and at night.

Dermamelan is suitable for all skin types from Caucasians to darker skin tones. Whilst the treatment is designed for those with particularly bad pigmentation; it can also be used by those with minor pigmentation or sun damage but looking for a quick fix.

It is excellent for treating the following pigmentation concerns:

  • Cholasma /Melasma – which is brown or dark brown patches on the skin that usually occur with hormonal changes. For example after pregnancy or when going on the contraceptive pill.
  • Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation – such as after acne or after other treatments that may have caused pigmentation.
  • Sun Damage – when you suffer from uneven skin tone caused by prolonged- exposure to the sun.

We are excited to introduce the new Dermamelan Peel system at Dermasurge Clinic

This is a powerful yet safe solution to your pigmentation concerns.

The Dermamelan Peel treatment consists of two phases and takes 6 -12 months to complete. The typical process at Dermasurge will run as follows:

Phase One
Your first appointment will be an in-depth consultation. We take a detailed history of your skin condition, advise you on the protocol and steps that you will be taking in terms of a home care routine. The main treatment takes 45mins. We advise that you bring a hat or a scarf just to protect your face on the way home.

Phase Two
After phase one you will be required to attend further visits to the Clinic usually after 7 days and then 1 month post treatment. Throughout the first 3 to 6 months (depending on the dermemelan package) we provide you with a-z of your home care requirement which is included in your original package.

After you have had your initial Dermamelan peel consultation we will schedule you in to start phase 1.
Please ensure you arrive on the day of your treatment with no make-up on. Also, be advised that straight after the treatment, your face will look tanned due to the colour of the mask which will still be on your skin.

Treatment steps:

  • Your face will be cleaned thoroughly.
  • The mask will then be applied by the doctor.
  • You will need to stay at the clinic until most of the mask is absorbed (about 20 minutes).
  • A full post-care treatment pack along with instructions will be given to you to take home.
  • You leave the clinic with a mask on your face.
  • Once at home wait for about 10 to 12 hours and then wash off the mask.
  • You will start to notice your skin peeling the next day.

What results can you expect from a Dermamelan peel?

Most often, the Dermamelan peel results will show within a week after the professional treatment.  You will start  to see about 80% improvement in the first month.

It is imporatnt to maintain your results by ensuring you use your home care products.

Some of the added benefits include: better-hydrated skin, reduced pore size, regulated sebum production and a general rejuvenation of the surface of the skin.

Please make sure you schedule your complimentary follow up 6 weeks after the peel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much downtime will I need?2020-01-24T18:09:43+00:00

The amount of downtime will depend on the strength of the peel. At Dermasurge, we recommend embracing longer periods of downtime in favour of more effective, long-lasting treatments where necessary. During the consultation process, Dr Hiba will be able to fully advise patients on how much downtime to expect but is usually between 3-7 days. Patients should avoid sunlight as the skin heals.

Are they any side effects?2020-01-24T18:11:38+00:00

Common side effects of chemical peels include flaking, peeling, redness, tenderness or stinging in the treatment area. This should subside as the skin begins to heal.

How soon will I see results, and how long will they last?2020-01-24T18:14:11+00:00

This will depend on the type of peel used during treatment, and results may take between one week and 3 months to become fully evident, depending on the length of downtime. Patients may need repeat or top-up treatment every six months. Dr Hiba will recommend an at-home skincare regime to help prolong the effects of chemical peel treatments.

Patient Reviews

“I am so glad I came to Dr. Hiba, I didn’t know what I wanted, however, my skin felt tired, old, and grey. She immediately put my mind at ease. She helped me with a skincare regime that worked! My treatment quick, painless – and results fantastic. Very happy, can’t recommend her enough.”

Peter, Surrey

“As my skin is aging, Dr. Hiba is helping me improve and maintain the texture of my skin in ways that are very natural looking and age appropriate. Dr. Hiba is so professional and took the time to explain the process and ensured she wouldn’t freeze my face. Dr. Hiba is very easy to communicate with (as is her staff) and I am genuinely looking forward to having my procedures done.”
